As of May 27th, The Buckeye Dulcimer Festival #29 has been postponed to April 14-18, 2021.

Hi to Everyone that loves THE BUCKEYE DULCIMER FESTIVAL!
Running events since March, 2024 has certainly been a challenge. Joyce and I are so fortunate to be
working with David Hudler at Recreation Unlimited. Early on in dealing with Covid,
we worked with David to move the festival date from April to August. We have had periodic
frank conversations regarding the ability of us, the festival, and RU to be able to
meet all requirements of keeping everyone safe.

We can meet nearly all of them, but just can't move forward.

As a result, both Joyce and Shari (BDF) and David (RU) have agreed to postpone BDF #29 to April 14-18, 2021.

As far as finances, we're just going to ignore 2024. For us, RU has relieved a huge burden to us and
will allow the festival to move on. Further, we are relieved that our registrants and
long-time BDF supporters do not need to wrestle with the decision as to whether to come.

The program for next year will feature the same classes ... hammer, mountain, band-it, autoharp, and
clawhammer banjo plus the addition of ukulele.

assisting us with this final design.

Thanks to David Hudler from Recreation Unlimited, we were able to move the festival from March to later in April.   


and now Buckeye #29 is moved to APRIL 14 - 18, 2021.


In the coming months, this website will be going through much
updating as we set our sights to a time past Covid-19, hopefully, 2021.

FYI:    BASIC QUESTIONS  and  UPDATES

-- BDF Menu for 2024 can be found on the Miscellaneous page.  Look for minor updates for 2021.

-- Saturday 'beginner sessions' for Mountain, Hammer, Autoharp and Harp will be offered in 2021.

-- Do you have electrical outlets in the sleeping cabins or Greif House for my CPAP machine?  YES.   
Every bed has access.  Actually, there are several hospital type beds in each cabin that are plugged in.

-- What is your cancellation policy?  Questions on the Buckeye Festival Cancellation Policy. We really don't have one. We believe that everyone that registers, really wants to come. If personal illness, family illness, weather or other reasons get in the way, so be it. We refund money that has been sent for registration as soon as we can. We just need to know as soon as possible by phone (937-216-2002) or email. Give us a call at 937-295-5253 if you have more specific questions.

-- Is there Wi-fi available onsite?  Yes.  In the Welcome Center, Life Center, and marginally in the Dining Hall.  There is no wi-fi in the Residence Halls/sleeping cabins/Greif House or staff housing.

-- Do I have to sleep on an upper bunk in the Residence Halls or Greif House?   NO ... no one sleeps on an upper bunk.

-- Do you provide for vegan vegetarians?
The answer is no, that we cannot provide for a vegan vegetarians or a Kosher diet.

You'll also find the special dietary needs that can be offered.    The menu continues to evolve each year as our participants as well as RU's clients have special dietary needs.  There are several folks that bring some food items to supplement what RU has to offer.   Refrigeration and microwaves are available in the Residence Halls/sleeping cabins, Greif House as well as in the Dining Hall.

Unfortunately as a package, NO.   You would need to register as a package #1 or #2 which covers the festival.
You can't imagine how hard we have worked with RU to keep costs to us and to you as low and reasonable as possible.   By creating these packages (5 options including non player pricing), I think of these as the 'value meals' of BDF.   If we had to prorate pricing for differences in the packages, we would end up charging much more.

-- Can I register and not pay for meals?   I will be commuting and don't need to have meals.  The same question because of dietary needs.
RU operation guidelines, our contract, and reasonable package pricing must include meals.  Know that each sleeping cabin as well as the dining hall has a refrigerator and microwave for your use, if you find it necessary to bring items to supplement.

During late afternoon on FRIDAY, we welcome our weekend participants and start to
convert to a festival format including shopping with our vendors (4 pm) and Friday night concert featuring our instructors
with jamming afterwards.

These 3 1/2 hour classes will provide the basic technique, repertoire, and ideas for jamming with others.

HOUSING ... STAY WITH US AT RECREATION UNLIMITED (Dorm or Semi-private housing) ...

Questions on RU onsite housing:  

DORM STYLE:  There are 3 Residence Halls (A, B, and C) that consist of two wings with a large lounge and restrooms in the central area.  Each cabin can house approximately 48 participants ... 24 in each wing.  
Cabin B has been designated as our 'couples' cabin.  Gents are housed in one wing and ladies in the other.  
No one sleeps in an upper bunk.    There are hospital beds with electric raise/lower features available.
There is plenty of electric outlets to accommodate CPAP machines.

Each year, I'm amazed at how folks 'build their nests' in the cabins. 

Included in your confirmation letter, you'll find a listing of things that will make your stay a pleasant one. 

SEMI-PRIVATE ACCOMMODATIONS:    The ssr电脑版下载 providing semi-private housing options to participants just opened Spring, 2018.  
This new building provides a fine alternative to 'dorm' housing without driving to and from a motel for a price very competitive to motel rates.  The Greif House provides semi-private housing for 2, 3, or 6 people including full restroom facilities.

SUMMARY ... BUCKEYE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN A FESTIVAL

What can't be expressed by looking at a schedule has to be the atmosphere of family and friendship that is 电脑ssr软件Buckeye'. 
We feature the finest of instructors, yes, but we look for staff who are willing to give, tirelessly, of their time and talent for our participants.  Jamming can be one of the most rewarding or most frustrating experience for players. 
It is our goal to make that jamming experience, THE BEST!

BDF leadership, as a lease group, continues to work with Recreation Unlimited in keeping prices as
affordable as possible.   I'm not sure that there are many 4-day events that have kept the
overall cost including program, lodging, and food for these prices.
